Happy Father's Day!

This morning, Pastor Wally talked about fathers, and 5 things that are required of them.

1. Fathers should be able to express genuine love. He said that too often, fathers try to be 'manly' men. That they think it's weak to cry or express emotion. But the model for men, Jesus Christ, showed emotion. He wept for Lazarus.

2. Be transparent. Show by example. Let your children see your flaws, and help them learn from your mistakes. But also, let them make their own mistakes, so they can learn from them.

3. Let them come home. Like the father of the prodigal son, who welcomed his wayward child with open arms. Don't make your child suffer from a bad decision. Help them if possible.

4. Genuine Spirituality - live a Righteous life. Read the bible with your children. Pray with them. Walk the walk, don't just talk the talk.

5. Be a positive influence. Encourage your child - in their walk with God, as well as throughout their life.

Our Heavenly Father is our model father. Fathers should strive to be loving, caring, sharing and helping.

Happy Father's Day!

  3. Good job, Pastor Wally! :)

We've always known, Adeena, that you're better than me (duh!), but this officially proves it to the rest of the world. You posted a post on Father's Day, and I did not.

Excuse: I was tired. Bad excuse. Bad.

  4. Not only did I post a post on Father's Day, but about a minute after I posted it, our hydro flicked and shut off the computer.

    Pretty good timing, eh? :)
